Welcoming of HG Bishop Angelos to the Archdiocese of North America

On Saturday, November 25, 2017, Bishop Angelos, accompanied by Bishop Karas and Bishop Ermia, arrived at the John F Kennedy Airport in NY, coming from Egypt. Their graces were received by Bishop David and many priests and people from the Archdiocese of NA and the New York and New England diocese.

On Sunday, November 26, 2017, Bishop Angelos prayed the divine Liturgy in St. Mark’s Church at the Papal Residence (El-maqqar), accompanied by Bishop Karas, Bishop Ermia, and Bishop Peter, being welcomed to his new position as the Patriarchal Exarch of the Coptic Orthodox Archdiocese of North America. Thereafter, each of their graces gave a word concerning Bishop Angelos, welcoming him to his new position, as well as thanking Bishop Karas for his service in the diocese for the last three years, and asking the Lord to help his grace as the bishop of the newly established Diocese of Pennsylvania and its Affiliated Regions, on which his grace will be enthroned this coming Saturday, December 2, in St. George Church in Norristown, PA, serving the Philadelphia area.

His Grace Bishop Angelos gave a word, in which he thanked God to serve in any place, and His Holiness Pope Tawadros II for his over-trust in him. His grace also mentioned that in his ministry in the new position, there must be three foundation cornerstones:

  1. Love
  2. Organization
  3. Delegation

His Grace also spoke about three categories of individuals to serve in the diocese equally in all aspects:

  1. New comers (New immigrants to the USA)
  2. Second Generation (Born in the USA or immigrated in a young age)
  3. Third Generation and Converts (born to the second generation or converts to the faith)

We pray to the Lord that He guides and assists Bishop Angelos in every aspect of service that he may use his talents for the glory of God.
