Bishop Angelos of London and #RedWednessday

Bishop Angelos will make speech front of Westminster Cathedral on Wednesday, November 22, 2017. #RedWednesday organized by Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) and Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW), two organizations which advocate for Christians around the world who live under pressure for their faith. Tens of English churches, the Parliament, and other landmarks will turn red by floodlights. Red color as the sign of martyrdom in the Christian faith.

Opens Doors had a study that Christian’s persecution has risen for the past four consecutive years, and Center for New Religions published that they are over 90,000 Christians were murdered in 2016. Coptic Church had its share of Christian Persecution from two church bombs in Easter, St. Samuel the confessor bus attack, and martyrdom of Fr. Saman Shehata.

It is not only a day. It is the whole week from November 19-26, but Wednesday is a highlight.   I wish many our English Coptic brothers and sisters participate and support the cause by wearing red on that week, pray for the persecuted churches, and educate other on Christians’ persecution in Egypt and in the Middle East.

"Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:10)
