First church in the US named after Pope Kyrillos VI and Archdeacon Habib Girgis

His Holiness Pope Tawadros the Second has approved the formation the first Coptic Orthodox Church in the United States in the name of our beloved patron saints, Pope Kyrillos VI and Archdeacon Habib Girgis. At the current time, it is a community that meets and prays in temporary locations.  However, the new church will be located in Northern Bergen County NJ. Bishop David began the process of building this church before he became the diocesian bishop of the Diocese of New York and New England. Fr Seraphim El Soriani, the Papal representative in charge of the Archdiocese of North America, was also instrumental in building this church despite his short time in the Archdiocese. Fr Bishoy Awad will be the local priest of the church.

The first liturgy, Sunday March 9th starting 8:30am promptly (please remember Daylight Savings time changes taking effect that morning). March 9th is the feast of our patron Saint Pope Kyrillos the Sixth. Prayer will be held at the Hilton Woodcliff Lake: 200 Tice Blvd, Woodcliff Lake, NJ, 07677. All are welcomed.
